LineSafer access points
An extra GL.iNet router becomes an access point: it brings Wi-Fi where the Flint doesn't reach, with the same networks and the same rules. You install it once and then manage it from the router's panel.

What you need
- A GL.iNet Flint 2 with LineSafer, which stays the main router.
- A GL.iNet GL-AR750S or GL-B1300 to use as an access point.
- A network cable between the two: Wi-Fi between router and access point is not supported.
How it works
- The cable carries the router's three networks, Home, Smart and Guests, kept apart (VLAN). The access point broadcasts them with the same names and passwords.
- Devices on the access point stay devices of your network: filters, profiles, pauses and statistics apply there too.
- With assisted roaming, phones and tablets move to the device with the best signal as you walk around the home.
- The router's panel shows every access point: status, connected devices and an alert if it stops answering.
1. Install the firmware
Download the file for your model from the download page and check its SHA-256 fingerprint. Disconnect the access point from the router and connect the computer to one of its LAN ports.
- GL-AR750S: in the stock GL.iNet panel (
http://192.168.8.1) open Upgrade → Local Upgrade, upload the file and uncheck "Keep Settings". After 3–4 minutes the access point is ready. - GL-B1300: the first time you install it from the terminal (SSH), because the stock firmware won't accept it from its panel. The
rootpassword is the GL.iNet panel's:
The second command checks the file and must show only the message "Config cannot be migrated from swconfig to DSA": if it shows anything else, stop. Thecat linesafer-ap-*-gl-b1300-sysupgrade.bin | ssh root@192.168.8.1 'cat > /tmp/fw.bin' ssh root@192.168.8.1 'sysupgrade -T /tmp/fw.bin' ssh root@192.168.8.1 'sysupgrade -n -F /tmp/fw.bin'-Foption is needed only this first time.
2. Connect it to the router
A cable from a LAN port of the Flint to the access point's WAN port. Open http://linesafer-ap.lan and choose the access point's password: the panel shows its status right away.

3. Link it to LineSafer
In the router's panel open Wi-Fi → Access points → Connect an access point and copy the key. In the access point's panel, Network and router tab, paste it into Link to LineSafer and press Save. From then on the router decides the Wi-Fi.

4. Done
The access point appears in the router's panel and in the app. You turn the Smart and Guest networks on for each access point from its card. Updates are installed from the access point's panel (System → Firmware update, with "Keep settings"), no terminal needed.
